Kem cho? Majama! Let’s explore and enlighten ourselves about Gujarat by A Krazy Mug’s themed kettle.

A warm hello to our most avid readers. How are you’ll doing? So the special edition “Incredible India” journey is coming to an end. We have last two specially themed designed kettles left to explore and apprise ourselves. Today, we are going to talk about “Gujarat” a state known for its rich heritage, vibrant culture, delicious cuisines and more!

Embracing different religious faiths, Gujarat is demonstrated as a vibrant mix of Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, and Buddhism. This amalgamation of cultures is quite evident in their beliefs, customs, traditions, institutions, and practices.

The typical Gujarati thali consists of roti, dal or kadhi, rice and shaak (a dish made up of several different combinations of vegetables and spices, which may be either spicy or sweet). The thali will also include preparations made from pulses or whole beans (called kathor in Gujarati) such as moong, black eyed beans etc., a snack item (farsaan) like dhokla, pathra, samosa, fafda, etc. and a sweet (mishthaan) like mohanthal, jalebi, doodh pak etc.

Global restaurant chains like Subway and Pizza Hut have opened their pure vegetarian outlets in Ahmedabad. These are their first completely vegetarian restaurants in the world.

Folk dances of Gujarat include famous dance forms like Garba, Dandiya, Bhavai, Tippani, Hudo, among others. These dance forms are very energetic, colorful and soulful and truly reflect the essence of vibrant Gujarat.

Raan of Kutch is a large salt marsh located in the Thar Desert in Gujarat’s Kutch District. Kutch is the largest district in India. Kutch means ‘something that becomes wet and dry intermittently’.

Gujarat is the birth state of “legends” the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

Did you know Gujarat is derived from a Sanskrit word? Originating from the Sanskrit word ‘Gurjaratra’, it means the “Land of Gurjaras”. The Gurjara tribe ruled the region between 8th and 9th centuries C.E.
